1971: Taki 183

Almost a decade before Jean-Michel Basquiat was tagging as Samo, TAKI 183 (short for Demetraki and his address on 183rd Street in Washington Heights) and Julio 204 were tagging all over New York. Tagging is essentially a Third-Turning phenomenon, but apparently has its roots in the Second Turning.
