1975: Production begins for Koyaanisqatsi

Although released in 1982 (Third Turning), the genesis of Koyaanisqatsi is in the mid-1970s when myriad social issues were at the forefront for Boomers entering adulthood, and re-resonates in the 1980s with a sense of a return to a search for a new "spirituality" in the face of the overwhelming progress of technology and its implications: urban decay and renewal, advent of computers, etc. Due to the lag of production and post-production we are in a sense looking back at the Second Turning in the rear-view mirror.
